CASA Adds Two Board Members
LANCASTER, PA (July 26, 2016) – CASA is proud to announce two additions to its Board of Directors: William Ross, Jr. and Michele Werder. Both of the newly elected board members will serve a three-year term.
Passionate about providing service to his clients, William Ross is an owner and Managing Member of Ross Insurance Agency located in Lancaster. Working with the agency since 1985, he is responsible for overall operations including sales, personnel, marketing, accounting, and procedures.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of CASA” Mr. Ross stated. “I have been astounded and amazed at the real difference my wife (a CASA volunteer) has made in the lives of the children and families she has been assigned to help.”
In addition to an extensive list of achievements and recognitions within his industry, Mr. Ross has a long history of involvement with the community including – Board of Directors and Classroom Instructor for Junior Achievement, Manheim Township Fire Council Board of Directors, and Chairman - Horseshoe Trail District, Boy Scouts of America.
Prior to joining Ross Insurance Agency, Mr. Ross worked as a Commercial Lines Producer for Driscoll-Pearce, Inc. in Needham, MA. He graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management and a minor in Psychology.
Michele Werder is a Director with Thomson Reuters, overseeing the North American Sales and Account Management teams with the Intellectual Property & Science division of the corporation. Mrs. Werder joined Thomson Reuters in 1998 and has held various sales leadership roles across both the IP & Science and Legal divisions of Thomson Reuters throughout her tenure.
“I am quite thrilled and deeply honored to become involved with CASA, an organization related specifically to the support of children and their needs throughout the legal process.” stated Mrs. Werder, who has served in the past as a volunteer with both Legal Services and Legal Aid for Children of Pittsburgh.
For several years, Mrs. Werder served as co-chair of the annual fundraiser for the North Museum of Nature and Science. She also served as Secretary of the Latino Vision Association Board of Directors. She is currently a volunteer classroom instructor with Junior Achievement, and for the last ten years has served as a catechist teaching first, fourth, fifth and seventh grades.
CASA of Lancaster County provides qualified and compassionate court appointed volunteer advocacy for children of abuse and neglect in the belief that every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. CASA volunteers believe that growing up in a safe home is a fundamental human right.
