CASA Hosts Community Awareness Breakfast
Lancaster, PA (April 30, 2013) - CASA is hosting the first annual "I Am for the Child” Community Awareness Breakfast on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Heritage Hotel. The event is open to the community but advance registration is required as seating is limited. Heritage Hotel has been generous enough to sponsor this event in part which allows CASA to offer the entire event. Attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast, free of charge.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our organization and the many opportunities for you to get involved. We hope that at the close of this event, everyone who attends will find a way to get involved in the movement and be able to join us in saying ‘I am for the Child.’ We are very aware of everyone’s time constraints and will keep this event to one hour.” stated Jessica Laspino, Executive Director.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. The organization trains volunteers to advocate on behalf of the best interest of a child in court. CASAs are appointed by a judge to specific cases. The children that CASA volunteers advocate for have experienced abuse and neglect so severe that it requires the intervention of social service agencies and the courts. Volunteers work to help insure a safe and permanent home for the child as quickly as possible. They are an extension of the "eyes and ears” of the judge.
CASA is central to fulfilling society's most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family.
