CASA Hosts Heroes Gala and Benefit AuctionLancaster, PA (October 10, 2013) – Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster County is hosting the fourth annual Heroes Gala and Benefit Auction on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Casa di Fiori at The Inn at Leola Village. CASA's Heroes Gala and Benefit Auction is an evening devoted to raising awareness of child advocacy for the abused and neglected children of Lancaster County.
WGAL’s Anne Shannon will emcee the event.
CASA will honor Central Penn College as the business recipient of the "Hero in the Life of a Child” award for their long-term and generous commitment to CASA in the community. The individual recipient for the "Hero in the Life of a Child” award is Mary Sourber, Director of Placement Services at COBYS Family Services.
At the event, CASA will name the Clark Family Foundation Volunteer of the Year. The recipient is a CASA volunteer nominated by their peers as having ideally demonstrated the principles of child advocacy.
Throughout the evening, guests participate in both silent and live auctions vying for goods and services primarily from local vendors. Items available for bid include:
- One week in a 2BR Florida condo
- Tiffany inspired jewelry
- Local restaurant and entertainment vouchers
- Decorative sports memorabilia
"This event is a wonderful opportunity for our friends, donors, and volunteers to support CASA and help grow and advance the organization,” stated Jessica Laspino, Executive Director.
CASA provides court appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children with the belief that every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. CASA is central to fulfilling society's most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family.
