CASA Raises $29,000.00 at Gala
Lancaster, PA (November 26, 2013) - Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster County raised $29,000.00 at their Fourth Annual Heroes Gala and Benefit Auction.
"Once again the Lancaster community sends a clear signal that they want to see CASA continue to help facilitate safe, permanent and nurturing homes for children who have suffered abuse and neglect. I am consistently overwhelmed by the philanthropy and compassion of Lancaster’s residents.” stated Jessica Laspino, CASA’s Executive Director.
Over 125 people attended the event to participate in the silent and live auctions and to see CASA’s 2013 Hero Award and Volunteer of the Year recipients honored.
The Hero Awards are given annually to one individual and one business that have made an exceptional effort to effect positive change in the life of a child.
CASA recognized Mary Sourber, Director of Placement Services at COBYS, as the Individual Hero Award Winner. Central Penn College was the 2013 Business Hero Award winner for the in-kind office space provided for CASA for over three years.
The 2013 Clark Family Foundation Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Josiah Coffey for his commitment and dedication in advocating for the children appointed to him by the court
CASA of Lancaster County provides court appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children in the belief that every child deserves to grow up in a home free of abuse and neglect, and that growing up in a safe home is a fundamental human right. CASA is central to fulfilling society’s most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family.
