CASA Volunteer Advocates Help Abused and Neglected Children Heal

LANCASTER, PA (November 08, 2018) – Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster County is recruiting volunteers to advocate for the hundreds of kids in Lancaster’s foster system. These vulnerable children need community volunteers - just like you - who are willing to stand up and speak out on behalf of our county’s most severely abused, abandoned and neglected children.

Not surprisingly, the process to become a CASA Volunteer Advocate is multi-step and includes an interview, training, and shadowing. CASA estimates that a volunteer will dedicate about 10-15 hours a month to case activities, as playing a part in getting children into permanent, loving homes is dedication and commitment. If you can’t swing it, you can still support the organization through donations and/or attending one of several fundraising events it holds annually.

CASA is holding a December 18th information session at Paul Davis Restoration, 1816 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA 17601 for its winter 2019 training class beginning in February. CASA Information Sessions are an hour-long intro and overview of the role of a CASA Volunteer Advocate. Attending an information session is a required first step in applying to our program. The sessions are free and open to the public, your RSVP is required due to limited seating. To reserve your seat, please contact CASA by calling 717-208-3280, or e-mailing casa@casalancaster.org.
