FIDEVIA Golf Classic Raises over $17,000 for CASA!
LANCASTER, PA (May 11th, 2018) – On Wednesday, May 9th, FIDEVIA Construction Management & Consulting raised over $17,000 at their First Annual Golf Classic, benefiting Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Berks and Lancaster Counties. The event not only exceeded expectations in funds raised, but also sold out of golf spots. “We had to turn golfers away,” stated Dan Cicala, Principal of Fidevia. “We couldn’t be more pleased with how well this event has been received, and we’re very excited to be spreading awareness on the wonderful work that CASA does.”
The event was held at Foxchase Golf Club, where golfers were able to participate in raffles before tee-off at 1 p.m. Prizes were awarded for longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin, and low score. Following the tournament, participants had the opportunity to hear from both CASA programs on how their volunteers help children in foster care. “These are highly-trained individuals that come along-side the most vulnerable children in our community, and speak up for them in the legal system,” stated Jessica Laspino, Executive Director of CASA of Lancaster. “The proceeds from the tournament will allow us to help more children in care, to which we couldn’t be more grateful!”
CASA is part of a national network of nearly 1,000 community-based programs across the country that recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to act as advocates and mentors for the best interest of abused and neglected children and teens. CASA of Lancaster County is currently advocating for about 40% of the children in Lancaster County’s foster care system and CASA of Berks County is currently serving only 6% of the children in out-of-home care.
