Fight for the Rights of an Abused or Neglected Child
LANCASTER, PA (06, 01, 2018) – When children are removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect that is so severe, child welfare agencies step in to place children in foster care homes or with kinship caregivers. While these children journey through the child welfare system, CASA volunteers can provide a consistent, knowledgeable and indefatigable voice on their behalf.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster County, are specially trained volunteers whom the court appoints to protect the best interest of the children in cases involving troubled families. Typical duties of a CASA include; conducting investigations into the child’s situation, providing written reports documenting their findings and recommendations, appearing at hearings to advocate for the child's best interests, making recommendations for appropriate services for the child and the child's family and much more.

CASA is central to fulfilling society’s most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family and home.
